1. Man attempts to steal twice from same Wal-Mart
On May 4th, Michael Smith, 37, stole a TV from the Wal-Mart at 415 Conley Road. He then attempted to steal another TV from the same Wal-Mart at 5:35 a.m. May 25. An employee tried to stop Smith, and Smith caused the employee some minor injuries in the altercation. Smith was arrested Monday on charges of stealing and second-degree robbery, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Drouin said.
2. Woman charged with stealing, assault at Wal-Mart
CPD officers were alerted at 2:16 a.m. May 27 that two men were being detained by law prevention officers at Wal-Mart, located at 415 Conley Road. Nicole Harvey, 29, gave officers some minor injuries by biting them, scratching them and grabbing their genitals, Drouin said. Her partner, Benjamin Bowman, 36, was charged with misdemeanor stealing. Harvey was charged with felony stealing, first-degree trespassing and two counts of third-degree assault.
3. Man arrested on charges of domestic assault
At 1:52 a.m. May 28, CPD officers were notified of an assault occurring near the 1000 block of Jefferson Street. When they arrived at the location, a female victim informed them Kenny Parrow, 51, had shoved her to the ground and started punching her in the face, causing minor injuries to her neck. Parrow broke the victim’s glasses in the assault. He was charged with third-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage. Parrow and the victim are married, according to a police report.
4. Police arrest one in Oakland Park shooting
CPD officers were dispatched at 5:07 p.m. May 28 to the Albert-Oakland Park pool, located at 1900 Blue Ridge Road. The department received several 911 calls about a verbal argument involving about 15 people, according to a CPD news release. Multiple callers reported hearing shots fired, and a parked vehicle was struck by another vehicle. Cedric Barnum, 28, reportedly drew a gun and began firing at other people involved in the argument before leaving the scene in a vehicle. Barnum, 28, was arrested Thursday after turning himself into police. He was charged with armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
