####Man runs from motel, pulls gun on pursuer
Billy Joel Grout, 26, was arrested Friday when police found him at 1:09 a.m. at 2518 Business Loop 70. An officer responded to an assault at the same address Aug. 12. The victim said Grout ran from the Eastwood Motel after a short car chase. The victim, the victim’s father and the victim’s son were trying to contact Grout because they had co-signed for his bond, and he did not appear in court. The victim chased Grout on foot and, before jumping over a fence, Grout pulled out a handgun and aimed it at the victim, who stopped and reported the incident to police. Grout is now in custody and charged with second-degree assault.
####Suspect runs into traffic, throws himself onto car
At 1:30 a.m. Friday, an officer near the intersection of Tenth and Cherry streets saw Jacob Pierce Klamen, 20, run into traffic and nearly be struck by a car. Klamen proceeded to throw himself onto the hood of the car, and the officer approached him and told him he was under arrest for obstructing the flow of traffic. When the officer searched Klamen’s wallet, he found a driver’s license of another person who was older than 21 years old as well as Klamen’s real license. The officer tested Klamen’s blood alcohol content, and while the officer was having Klamen sign a summons, Klamen tried to run and tried to hit the officer. Klamen was charged with attempted escape from custody, third-degree assault of an officer, minor purchase or possession of liquor, alteration of an ID and pedestrian walking along a roadway.
####Two arrested on charges of theft
MU police officers were dispatched at 1:13 a.m. Friday to Creative Photo at 2201 Old Highway 63 in response to a call. The officers were informed there were two suspects in custody. Two MU seniors, Mitchell Walsh and Mackenzie Browning, both 21, were found attempting to steal from Creative Photo. According to MU Police Department Spokesman Brian Weimer, the two tried to take a sign, two pom-poms and a Missouri Students Association/Graduate Professional Council poster. Walsh and Browning were both charged with stealing and released on a summons.
####Dogwood resident charged with alcohol possession
MU police officers were sent at 12:04 a.m. Saturday to Dogwood Hall in response to a disturbance. Residential Life student staff directed the officers to the room of Evan Bolts, a 19-year-old freshman. The officers found alcohol, marijuana and a fake ID among Bolts’ possessions. No one else was with Bolts at the time of the arrest, according to a police report. Bolts was charged with possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana, possession of a fake ID and possession of alcohol by a minor.
####Sophomore charged with narcotics possession
At 10:53 p.m. Saturday, MU police officers performing a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Rollins Street and College Avenue stopped Seymoura Zuriel for not having her headlights on. Zuriel said the car belonged to sophomore Ellen Sherman, 20.
MUPD officers found two glass pipes, a plastic bag containing marijuana and alcohol in the vehicle. Sherman was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
