“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It’s an old and clichéd saying, but it rings true of Mumford & Sons’ attitude about its new release, _Babel_, the follow-up to the double-platinum _Sigh No More_. Implementing folk and bluegrass with just a touch of pop and rock, Mumford & Sons has won the hearts of millions of music lovers across the globe. _Babel_ rarely diverts from the formula that made the band so popular in the first place. Marcus Mumford’s vocals are as strong as ever, backed by powerfully clean instrumentals and big builds that could blow the speakers of any venue in the world. Yet, it seems as if the band relies on this style too much, deviating from the softer tones that made _Sigh No More_ so personal. However, the trademark of Mumford & Sons will always be its lyrics. Filled with spiritually charged allusions, Mumford explores the highs and lows of love with both grace and honesty, never backing down to satisfy the bubble-gum positivity so many people crave. And though it might have lost some of the tenderness of _Sigh No More_, _Babel_ is an album that grows on you, demanding multiple listens.
