The Boone County Sheriff’s Department arrested a third suspect Monday in connection with a recent methamphetamine lab bust.
Columbia resident Kenneth E. Cook, 55, turned himself in to sheriff’s deputies at 10 a.m. Monday and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
The department served a search warrant Sept. 26 at 7405 N. Highway VV and found a fully operational and active methamphetamine lab, according to a previous news release.
“Deputies also recovered two firearms as well as processed methamphetamine,” the release stated. “The pit bull inside the residence was shot after biting a deputy in the thigh.”
Animal Control personnel took the dog in for treatment. They had previously issued an aggressive dog citation to the owners of the property.
On Wednesday, a week after the meth lab was discovered, a sheriff’s deputy stopped Richard F. Wright, 33, and Lacey C. Wright, 32, in a vehicle near Northland Drive and Parker Street. Investigators had developed probable cause to arrest both of them in connection to the meth lab, sheriff’s department Sgt. David Alexander said.
Richard Wright was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of certain weapons and distribution, delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance. He also had outstanding warrants from Callaway, Cooper and Cole counties, with bonds totaling more than $133,000.
Lacey Wright was arrested on suspicion of distribution, delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance with a $50,000 bond.
All three suspects are being held in Boone County Jail.
