1. Man arrested on paraphernalia charge at Hearnes Center
Officers responded to a report of suspected narcotic paraphernalia early Thursday morning at the Hearnes Center.
A spoon that was found in the east men’s restroom of the building raised suspicion, MU Police Department spokesman Brian Weimer said.
Upon arrival, police reached out to the supervisor and made contact with Clifford Lake, 53, during his shift.
Police ran Lake’s information and discovered two outstanding warrants. Lake has a misdemeanor warrant for larceny and a felony warrant for stealing, according to MUPD reports.
Lake was arrested on the charge of use of, or possession with intent to use, drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody and transported to Boone County Jail.
2. One arrested after threatening officer outside 10 Below
Michael Kane, 21, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Friday at 10 Below Restaurant & Lounge. A Columbia police officer in the area saw Kane leave the bar twice.
Upon approach, Kane told the officer he was going to kill him and jumped toward the officer’s face, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said. The officer tried to place Kane in custody. Kane tried to get away, but the officer then put Kane on the ground and arrested him.
Kane was charged with resisting arrest and third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer.
3. Man faces felony charges for multiple bike thefts
Police arrested a 52-year-old man Friday evening on the grounds of property theft valued at less than $500.
A bike was stolen Friday evening from the area outside the Fine Arts Building. The bike was located, and police made contact with the suspected individual, Timothy Overton.
Overton has stolen at least nine other bikes, making this a felony charge, Weimer said.
Overton was taken into custody and transported to Boone County Jail, according to MUPD reports. The case is still under investigation.
4. Woman charged with trespassing at football game
A 39-year-old woman was arrested on trespassing charges Saturday afternoon at the Missouri-Alabama game.
Boone County deputies originally asked Kristen Ventrillo to leave for being vulgar, Weimer said.
Ventrillo later returned and was spotted by police. She was then arrested for first-degree trespassing and released on signature summons, according to MUPD reports.
5. Two arrested for fighting at football game
Officers were dispatched to assist troopers at the football game Saturday regarding two individuals in an altercation.
By the time police arrived, Kyle Raymer, 26, and Joel Griffitt, 30, were separated, Weimer said.
Raymer and Griffitt were arrested on charges of disturbing the peace and taken to the police department, according to MUPD reports. Each was released on a $500 bond.
6. One charged with statutory rape in park
A park ranger called officers at 10:20 p.m. Saturday to Stephens Lake Park. Two subjects were in a vehicle having sex. The female was 16 years old and the male, Bradley Michael Geery, was 22 years old, Stroer said. Geery was arrested and charged with second-degree statutory rape.
