1. Three arrested with pellet gun in government building
Christopher Davis, Devanti Pittman and Jerry Faust were observed running around the Missouri Department of Conservation building at 1110 S. College Ave. at 12:34 a.m. Tuesday. An MU police officer on patrol saw them and what he originally thought were paintball guns. The officer went to investigate when he heard the sound of laughter and gunshots. The weapons turned out to be pellet guns. Davis, Pittman and Faust were arrested on charges of second-degree trespassing and discharging a firearm in city limits, MU Police Department spokesman Scott Richardson said.
2. Man arrested at University Hospital after giving fake name
MUPD was dispatched to the University Hospital at 12:58 a.m. Tuesday. Hospital staff reported a disturbance and when MUPD arrived at the scene, Delvin Stewart, 40, gave a fake name and date of birth to officers because he had a warrant out for his arrest. Stewart was taken off the premises without incident and arrested on charges of first-degree trespassing and deceiving.
3. Man arrested after violent dispute with ex-girlfriend
Columbia police officers were dispatched to the Days Inn Motel on I-70 Drive for a reported assault at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect, identified as Joshua Dent, 22, went to the motel to visit his ex-girlfriend. The two got in a fight and Dent grabbed his ex-girlfriend’s clothing and computer and threw them outside. He then proceeded to grab his ex by the left arm and punch her in the back of the head after throwing her on the ground. Dent was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic assault, second-degree property damage, and second-degree trespassing, CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
4. Two arrested after fighting in park
Jonathan Smith and Howard Baker were arrested at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Field Park. The two men were observed fighting in the southeast corner of the park by a CPD officer on patrol. Baker, 33, hit Smith, who was sitting on a bench in the park. Smith, 43, told the officer Baker was unhappy with him because he owed Baker money. On the other hand, Baker told the officer he had been jumped by Smith and a third party before the officer arrived and he was defending himself. Both Smith and Baker were arrested on charges of peace disturbance by fighting.
