An 18 year-old man has been arrested after admitting his involvement in three September robberies in Columbia.
The suspect, Jeremy Burnett, turned himself into the Columbia Police Department on Thursday morning for the Sept. 28 robbery of the Phillips 66 at 126 S. Providence Road. During the interview, he also admitted his involvement in two earlier robberies.
Police had been looking for Burnett since arresting Albert Butler, 31, and Travis Butler, 29, following the Phillips 66 robbery.
CPD officers were dispatched to the gas station at 4:03 a.m. after a man made contact with the clerk as he was exiting the building. The suspect forced him back in, demanding money from the register. As he left, he stole two bottles of liquor before fleeing on foot.
The suspect did not have a weapon.
Investigators used surveillance video to determine Albert and Travis Butler were in the gas station with Burnett 30 minutes prior to the robbery. The video showed the same three men were also involved in the robbery.
The two brothers admitted to their involvement.
On Sept. 3, the suspect entered the Petro Mart located at 3850 Rangeline St. and attempted to take a wallet from a customer at the counter. The customer grabbed his wallet and went outside to call the police. Burnett turned to the clerk and demanded money from the register. The suspect did not mention a weapon, but had his hand under his shirt, indicating he had one, according to a police department news release.
He was last seen running south behind the Landmark Bank.
During the Sept. 21 robbery at Passions adult entertainment store, located at 1108 E. Business Loop 70, Burnett once again did not display a weapon but did indicate he had a gun and threatened to hurt the clerk. The suspect fled the scene on foot heading southbound between the buildings and over a fence.
CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said the Butler brothers were not involved in the Passions and Petro Mart robberies.
The amount of money stolen in all three cases is undisclosed.
