Two nameless individuals were victims of an armed robbery that took place late Sunday night in the parking lot of a Taco Bell restaurant.
At 9:30 p.m., Columbia police officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a Taco Bell restaurant at 3301 Clark Lane in response to a report of an armed robbery. A subsequent investigation disclosed an unidentified 24-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were situated in a car in a parking lot between Taco Bell and Home Depot on Clark Lane, according to a police department news release.
When recounting the incident, the victims informed the police they had noticed unknown women in a red Dodge four-door vehicle staring at them while they were driving through the parking lot. In response, the female victim drove her car up to the other vehicle to see if there was any problem with the women.
As the female victim pulled her car up to the other vehicle, a pair of unknown men entered the back of her vehicle. The men then proceeded to point handguns at the female and male victims. Backpacks containing money, a wallet and a laptop computer belonging to the victims were stolen from the vehicle.
None of the suspects have been identified, and the police have yet to obtain any additional information in this case, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
There have been 12 robberies during the past month in Columbia, according to online police data.
