“They shouldn’t include information that elicits sympathy for the attacker. They shouldn’t include information that undercuts the release itself, making it seem like a trivial event.” In other words, Clery releases should paint a picture most favorable to the victim, even if there are facts that cut the other way? Should the Clery release have also left out the time and place of the occurrence (9:34 a.m. in the middle of campus) since those facts elicit sympathy for the attacker? I would rather have the truth from MUPD than an edited version of facts whose only practical effect would be to inspire fear on campus.
