####Man charged with choking girlfriend
Columbia Police Department officers were dispatched after an assault was reported at 3:35 p.m. Monday at 12001 Larch Court. Samuel Cooks had choked his girlfriend until she lost consciousness, leaving finger shaped welts and bruises along her neck. Cooks, 59, was arrested on charges of second-degree domestic assault, spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
####18-year-old reportedly vandalizes school
A report of property damage brought CPD officers to The Core Quest School, located at 4600 Bethel Street, at 11:52 a.m. Monday. Brian Lambirth, 18, was damaging a set of window blinds and an exit sign. He was arrested on charges of second-degree property damage.
####Traffic stop results in multiple charges
MU police officers pulled over Lauren Phillips, 21, at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of University and College avenues. Phillips was not staying within her lane, and when she was pulled over, a sobriety test was administered and she was found to be intoxicated. Phillips was also unable to provide proof of insurance. Officers arrested her on charges of driving while intoxicated, failing to drive within a single lane, a drivers license violation and failure to maintain financial responsibility, MUPD spokesman Brian Weimer said.
####Student arrested after spilling hot chocolate on officer
Lauren Buntyn caused a disruption in class at Douglass High School, located at 310 N. Providence Road, and a CPD officer working extra duty at the school was called at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. The officer asked Buntyn, 17, to leave repeatedly and she refused. She stood up and knocked a cup of hot chocolate over, spilling it all over the officer and his uniform. Buntyn was arrested on charges of third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer.
####Car wash incident leads to altercation at police department
A female victim was in the Columbia Police Department building at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday to report Jocelyn Thomas, 32, who had been continuously harassing her. Thomas hit the victim’s car as she was going through the Tiger Express Car Wash. When both cars got out of the car wash, Thomas got out of her car with an umbrella and started hitting the victim’s driver’s side window with it. The victim rolled down her window to talk to Thomas and Thomas hit her in the face with the umbrella. The victim’s car received minor damage, and the victim herself had minor cuts on the right side of her face and lower lip. After the car wash incident, the victim went straight to the police department and Thomas followed her. They argued in the lobby and Thomas fled before officers arrived. Thomas was arrested on property damage and second- and third-degree assault charges at 600 E. Walnut St.
