####Man arrested on harassment charges against ex-girlfriend
Maurice Banks, 31, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Monday on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault and misdemeanor harassment charges. Banks reportedly began to harass his ex-girlfriend over the phone Nov. 16. The victim repeatedly told Banks not to call her anymore and blocked his number from her cellphone. However, Banks continued to call her at work to harass her by calling her names and threatening to take the kids. Banks turned himself in to the Columbia Police Department.
####Man attempts to flee Hy-Vee with cart, vodka
A Hy-Vee employee called Columbia Police Department officers to the store at 415 Conley Road at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday, when he witnessed shoplifting in progress. Marvin Ginter tried to leave the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise, along with a bottle of vodka in a plastic bag. When the employee asked Ginter, 49, to show his receipt at the door, Ginter said he didn’t have one, shoved the shopping cart toward the employee and left the store. Ginter was arrested on a third offense theft charge and a municipal warrant for not appearing on an original charge of theft, CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
####Father attacks daughter over MP3 argument
CPD officers were dispatched at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday to 313 Sherwood Drive. Frederick Garver, 40, attacked his 13-year-old daughter after getting angry at her over an argument she had with her sister about an MP3 player. Garver shoved her into her bedroom door. When she tried to shut the bedroom door, Garver forced his way into the room, threw his daughter on the bed and struck her face twice. Officers observed bruises on the victim’s jaw and back once they arrived at the scene. Garver was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic assault.
####Four arrested in park on marijuana charges
Four individuals were arrested at Clyde Wilson Park by MU police officers on patrol at 10:51 p.m. Tuesday. Joel Robinson, Edgar Enriquez, Samuel Eames and Clayton Reynolds were in the park smoking marijuana, MUPD spokesman
Brian Weimer said. MUPD caught them smoking pipes and arrested Robinson, Enriquez and Eames without incident. Reynolds tried to run but was caught and arrested. Robinson, 18, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Enriquez and Eames, both 18, were arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana. Reynolds, 18, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana, littering and resisting arrest, Weimer said.
####Fight at Rock Bridge High School leads to arrest
The Rock Bridge High School Resource Officer was called to the school at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in response to a fight. David Martin, 17, and another juvenile were hitting each other and the fight escalated to the point where they were both on the ground. Martin was arrested on charges of peace disturbance in the form of fighting.
