####CPD busts marijuana growing operation####
Columbia Police Department, in conjunction with the MUSTANG Drug Task Force, made a drug-related arrest at 4:56 p.m. Friday at 4809 Rice Road. Officers found a marijuana growing operation which included three flowered plants, grow lights, electronic thermometers, fans and growing devices. The officers also found 12 handguns, $7,000 in cash, psilocybin mushrooms and numerous bags and jars of high-grade marijuana. Cody Crane, 26, was arrested on charges of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, said CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer.
####Shoplifter caught stealing from four stores####
Marquan Jones, 17, was arrested on various stealing related charges at 10:06 p.m. Friday at 1901 Bernadette Drive. CPD officers were working to link her to two other felony shoplifting cases they believe she was involved in. While working on the case, the officer in charge was notified Jones was at the Columbia Mall. Jones stole clothing items from Marshall’s and JC Penney, along with several items from MC Sports and three Wii U gaming systems from Target. Jones tried to push past Target loss prevention officers to get away. Officers arrested Jones on multiple charges of stealing and resisting arrest.
Jones was also arrested on charges of tampering in the second-degree for stealing her mother’s car keys and loaning the car to other people while her mother slept. Two people with the car were later involved in an accident officers investigated.
####Three arrested after climbing the Jesse Hall dome####
MUPD officers on patrol witnessed three individuals using the fire escape at at 12:49 a.m Saturday to climb the dome at Jesse Hall. Once they came down, Daniel Berger, 20, and Dylan McNerney, 18, were arrested on first-degree trespassing charges. Jacob Rzeszutko, 18, ran and managed to escape. However, officers knew his identity and he was arrested at a later date on first-degree trespassing and resisting arrest charges.
####Woman breaks window during dispute at Motel 6####
CPD officers were dispatched at 8:53 p.m. Saturday to 1800 I-70 Southeast, Motel 6, after receiving a call about a woman screaming “someone help,” and glass shattering. Officers found the room vacant with large amounts of glass outside the room. Brittany Redden told officers she broke the window in a fit of anger when she got in a fight with Emmanual Bonaparte. Bonaparte, 19, grabbed Redden, 17, and threw her on the ground, busting her lip and causing her nose to bleed. Bonaparte was arrested on third-degree assault charges and Redden was arrested on second-degree property damage charges.
####Shoplifter fights with loss prevention officers, arrested by CPD####
Eva Matney, 23, attempted to steal various products at 1:54 p.m. Sunday at the Walmart at 3001 W. Broadway. Matney tried to hide makeup products in her purse and put a glue gun and glue sticks into a gray Walmart bag and walked past the cash registers without paying. Loss prevention officers tried to stop her. She then proceeded to pull the loss prevention officer’s hair and punch them in the face repeatedly. CPD officers arrested Matney on a second-degree robbery charge.
