This sandwich is often associated with rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley, who is admittedly somewhat infamous for his unhealthy eating habits. Regardless, his supposed favorite sandwich does have some merit — it offers a delightful, creamy taste that can be sweetened with honey or syrup. The banana’s natural moisture works well as a counter to the peanut butter’s inherent dryness. The syrup or honey can also help counter the peanut butter. In the end, this sandwich creates a tasty synthesis of the dry and the moist. It works well as a simple, light lunch that consists of surprisingly healthy ingredients.
Ingredients:
Two pieces of white bread (or wheat, I won’t judge)
Two to three heaping teaspoons of peanut butter (preferably crunchy)
One banana, uniformly sliced
Optional:
A drizzling of honey or maple syrup
Directions:
Grab the bread and generously spread peanut butter on one piece. Next, get a banana, peel, and cut it into even slices. Place as many of these on top of the peanut butter as you can. If you so choose, add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for that dab of sweetness. Slice it down the middle and enjoy.
