In response to [Austin James](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2013/2/21/letter-chancellor-mu-response-storm-was-dismal/):
While I agree that the university could have exercised a bit more foresight in deciding whether or not to cancel classes today, I can’t help but find this response a little dramatic. To say your university has failed you and that you’re disgusted with its lack of concern seems like a gross overstatement. While I admit being frustrated at not quite knowing what was going on this morning, I am a college educated person with internet access who knew perfectly well how severe this storm would be before it happened. We are in college. It is not our school’s job to babysit us in these situations. We are all certainly capable of making our own decisions and many people rightly decided to stay home today to avoid risking their safety and others’. If the weather is that bad, all you need to do is stay home. Be an adult and stop blaming your frustrations on the institutions that are doing their best to look out for you, whether you agree with the way they are going about it or not. Next time, go to weather.com and use your brain to make decisions; do not rely on a public university to make them for you.
