####Hospital patient commits hate crime against staff
MUPD officers arrested Joshua Mazelin, 25, on assault charges Monday afternoon.
Officers were sent to the Missouri Psychiatric Center to detain Mazelin after he assaulted one of the psychiatric aids. Mazelin called the aid several racial slurs, according to MUPD reports.
While staff struggled to get ahold of Mazelin, he elbowed one of the aids in the mouth and spit in the mouth of one of the security personnel, MU Police Department spokesman Brian Weimer said.
Mazelin was arrested on charges of third-degree assault motivated by discrimination. Upon his arrest, officers discovered Mazelin had a felony warrant, according to MUPD reports.
Mazelin was transported to Boone County Jail for the assault charges and remains there on a $5,000 bond.
####One arrested for fraudulently using a disabled parking permit
MUPD officers arrested Gregory Williams, 26, in CG18 parking lot Tuesday night.
An officer on foot patrol observed a car parked in a handicapped parking space with an altered parking permit placard. The expiration date had been changed from March 2013 to August 2013, according to MUPD reports.
The vehicle was towed with a hold placed on it. Williams contacted MUPD and stated that the vehicle belonged to his mother, but that he was the one driving it, Weimer said.
Williams was arrested for fraudulently using a disabled person’s windshield placard and released on summons.
####Woman arrested on drug and alcohol charges
MUPD officers arrested Abigail Geyer, 21, at South Providence and East Green Meadows Road early Wednesday morning.
While on patrol heading southbound on Providence Road near Elm Street, officers observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Elm Street turn left onto Providence Road. The vehicle repeatedly crossed over the white line, causing the officer to pull Geyer over and conduct a field sobriety test.
Geyer was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated by both alcohol and drugs as a prior offender, failure to driving within a single lane, possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing 35 grams or less of marijuana, according to MUPD reports.
Geyer was transported to Boone County Jail and has since been released.
####Stolen street signs discovered in Residence Hall, student arrested
Officers arrested Zachary Beuckman, 19, Wednesday night on a larceny charge at Galena Hall.
While performing a health and safety check, Residential Life staff discovered a total of six street signs in Beuckman’s residence. Beuckman was out of town at the time, according to MUPD reports.
When Beuckman returned he was arrested for the possession of stolen property valued at $150 or more and released on summons.
