After a four-year hiatus, the Chicago alternative rock band Fall Out Boy is back with another smash hit, _Save Rock and Roll_. Fall Out Boy’s comeback album proves that members’ brief solo careers have only strengthened their overall collaborative sound.
From the start, the fast pace of the first song, “The Phoenix,” to the unexpectedly passionate plea of the final and title song, “Save Rock and Roll,” featuring Elton John, Fall Out Boy continues to stay true to their beginnings. The catchy anthem, “Alone Together,” proclaims that they’re staying young forever as long as they’re together. Pulsing rock songs like “Death Valley” want to “see your animal side” to prove you’re alive, while “Rat a Tat” asks, “Are you ready for another bad poem?” featuring Courtney Love growling along with this explosive anthem about the perils of love and broken dreams thanks to reality.
Fall Out Boy’s latest, eclectic album is grand, loud and just plain good. According to the band’s website, Fall Out Boy is also hitting the road with a Save Rock and Roll US Fall Arena Tour that includes Panic! At the Disco and other special guests.
