The Columbia Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured three people downtown early Saturday morning.

Officers in the area responded to the sound of gunshots near Tenth Street and Broadway at 12:26 a.m., according to the news release.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body near 920 E. Broadway. The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.

Another victim was dropped off at University Hospital by a personal vehicle. The victim had a gunshot wound to the hand. A third victim was found during a traffic stop. Officers also found eight shell casings on the west sidewalk between Broadway and Walnut street, Stroer said.

Senior Tyler Harpool uploaded [a video of the incident](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=or-4VEZF-hE) to YouTube that shows a crowd forming near the intersection prior to multiple shots being fired.

“I was walking to my car because I left my leftover pizza in the backseat,” Harpool said. “As far as the events that unfolded, I couldn’t understand anything that was said because of the absurd, pseudo hyper-masculinity being yelled at between several people. The recorded video shows a man taunting another in the streets.”

Stroer sent the video to investigators, Stroer said.

Senior Steve Sheehan was walking nearby when the shots fired.

“I heard really loud pops back to back to back,” Sheehan said. “Everyone started either running or getting down on the ground. I ducked behind a mailbox. Later on, I saw there was a big spot of blood outside of US Bank on the street, and there was this guy getting his legged worked on by paramedics on the curb by Tenth and Broadway.”

No suspect description is available, and the investigation is ongoing, according to the news release.
