An unidentified man robbed Landmark Bank on 202 North Stadium Boulevard Monday at 3:39 p.m.
There were no customers in the bank during the time of the robbery, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
This is the first bank robbery that has occurred this year CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
Witness accounts say the man walked into the bank and gave the teller a note demanding money and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, to the news release.
A law alarm in the bank alerted the police of the robbery.
The officer’s arrival was almost immediate after the alarm went off since a supervisor was near the scene of the crime.
The suspect did not reveal a weapon and no sight of a weapon were mentioned.
The man, according to witness accounts, was a white man about 25 years old, 160 pounds and approximately 5’11”. He was seen wearing a hat, sunglasses, a grey t-shirt and jeans.
