Basically, there are two kinds of people in the world: those who dress well and those who think that dressing well requires too much time and energy. The latter sometimes results in a sea of Nike shorts, T-shirts and high socks with running shoes.
While this getup may be as comfy as can be, is it really a day changer? That would be a no. Should your outfit have the capability of doing so? Absolutely.
Let’s face it; sometimes weekdays suck. MizzouWireless gets sketchy right as your online quiz is due. The chapter you waited until the very last possible moment to read is actually the only chapter in the book that’s 68 pages. You literally had to sprint to catch your apartment shuttle … past a group of really attractive boys … as they were yelling, “Run, Forrest, run.” (Not that that last thing has ever happened to me or anything). You get it.
What’s worse than any of those occurrences? Experiencing them while looking anything less than fabulous.
It’s just as easy to put on leggings and a racer-back Under Armour tank as it is to tuck a solid cotton racerback tank (which would be cheaper, too!) into a floaty little skirt.
For some reason, so many people think that looking nice requires more time than the eight minutes they allot themselves in the morning. The good news? That’s definitely not the case.
One of the easiest, quickest ways to look stylish with simple pieces is to tuck in your shirt. Regardless of what the combination consists of, you’re going to wear a bottom part and a top part. Why not pick pieces that you can tuck in to show off your awesome bod?
Tucking your shirt in is slimming. Throw on a skinny belt, and you’ve got a perfectly chic look with only a smidge of effort.
Another humongous misconception is that wearing a dress gives off the impression that you’re trying too hard. In fact, a dress is the ultimate sign of conveniently lazy fashion. I mean honestly: no pants, no problems.
A dress is a complete outfit in one piece. It takes less time to put on a dress, sandals and earrings than it does to put on those adorable high socks and tie those wonderfully fluorescent shoe laces.
If you’re planning on wearing a T-shirt, throw on a white V-neck instead. A V-neck looks good on everyone, and with everything. Tuck it in. Wear it out. It doesn’t matter. Add a scarf or throw on some earrings to jazz it up, or just keep it simple. A slouchy solid V-neck is super chill and adaptable to any style.
Another super easy way to look good fast? Paint your nails. Throughout our daily activities, it’s easy to forget that we were born with a natural accessory: our nails. A bold nail color with pretty rings will take the simplest of outfits to the next level. This tip is especially wonderful for people (like myself) who talk with their hands.
Regardless of what your style is, it should be a relevant part of your life. What you wear can be an amazing expression of how you feel, and a statement you want to make to the world.
Life is too short to wear anything you don’t love. If you’re completely obsessed with wearing athletic clothes, then do it. However, if you wear them because you feel like you don’t have time, save them for the gym and remind yourself that’s not the case.
There are so many parts of your life that you cannot control, but your wardrobe is not one of them.
Seize the day — and seize your style.
