Since September 2012, Helena and Allen Shih have been using their petite shop to provide pastries to match your sweet tooth’s every craving. [U Knead Sweets](http://ukneadsweets.com/) is located downtown on Cherry Street, and with the holidays soon upon us, the store owners are ready to present their very own seasonal delights, as well as a few old favorites.
Scones, cookies and cakes are always on the menu, but now customers can sink their teeth into pumpkin spice-flavored scones and cheesecakes in honor of fall. A slice of pie in any of the beloved autumnal flavors of pumpkin, apple, pecan and apple caramel is always a yummy way to punctuate the season.
As fall winds down and the winter holidays quickly approach, Helena Shih is ready to meet them with mouth-watering and decorative desserts — all of which can be ordered over the phone from the comfort of your own home — to make your holiday gathering unforgettable.
Her Yule Log Cake, which consists of vanilla and chocolate sponge cake wrapped in chocolate mousse and frosted with chocolate buttercream, makes a delicious and eye-catching centerpiece for your table. Meanwhile, meringue snowmen complete with scarves and hats (all edible), provide for an adorable place setting for a dinner party.
Helena Shih doesn’t just provide sweet additions to your get-together. Her signature dinner rolls are a must-have for every holiday meal and are available by order only.
Of course, there are sweet treats to be had for those who simply just want to visit the shop. A brief respite from gift shopping downtown wouldn’t be complete without holiday-themed sugar cookies and cupcakes.
U Knead Sweets offers sugar fixes year-round. The shop’s usual assortments include several desserts with European and Asian inspirations.
European tastes can look for the fresh fruit tarts or subtly sweet macaroons, which come in a wide variety of flavors. A favorite Asian-inspired dish is a green tea and red bean chiffon cake, available by order.
Maybe you’re not sure what you’re looking for in a dessert, or maybe you can’t remember the name of that type of dessert you had last year that was absolutely _divine_. That’s fine too. You can just call in an idea to U Knead Sweets and leave it to the experts.
“I love when people call me and say, ‘Can you do this?’” Helena Shih says. “I love to take challenges.”
