Redshirt freshman wide receiver Levi Copelin was arrested Thursday and charged with peace disturbance, according to MU Police.
A representative from the MU Police Department said the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Copelin went to the ID Card Office in the basement of the MU Student Center to get a new student ID before 4 p.m. Thursday. Copelin was notified that there was a hold on his account.
“This upset him, and he made comments to the staff that they felt were threatening,” Cpt. Brian Weimer said.
MU Police said they called and met with Copelin at the Virginia Avenue Garage, where the police station is located, later that day.
A Boone County Jail representative said Copelin arrived at the jail at 9:45 p.m. He was later released at 12:30 a.m. on $500 bond. The representative said Copelin’s family bailed him out. Copelin is a native of Broken Arrow, Okla.
“We’re aware of the situation, and we are dealing with it internally,” Mizzou Athletics spokesman Chad Moller said Friday morning.
Copelin is a first time offender for disturbing the peace, which is a class B misdemeanor.
The arrest is the second in two weeks on the Missouri football team. Sophomore wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was booked and released Jan. 11 from the Greene County Jail on suspicion of possession and intent to distribute less than five grams of marijuana.
