**Madeline Ericson**
_Friendly face in an important place_
You’d be wise to stop by the Wellness Resource Center. Not only can you find information on a variety of topics including alcohol responsibility, smoking cessation and mental health, but you might even be greeted by Madeline Ericson.
Ericson, a laid-back St. Louis native, is a student-staff member who works as a receptionist in the office. She performs a variety of tasks, from filing to helping with mailings and anything and everything else necessary to keep the office running smoothly so it can better serve MU students.
Currently a senior anthropology major, Ericson came to MU as a psychology major. She credits her early interest in psychology as spurring her involvement with the center. The center’s former home in Hatch Hall, where Ericson lived as an underclassman, didn’t hurt either.
“It was important to me to work where I felt the programs were important,” she says. “We provide not only students but also other schools with information that can help people.”
**Jim and Rita Hogan**
_Well-traveled couple helps others travel, too_
Jim and Rita Hogan own a few acres of property. On top of that, they’ve traveled through their fair share of the world’s acreage.
Originally from Muskogee, Okla., the Hogans have also lived in Texas and Missouri.
“Living in different cities in the U.S. is an eye-opener,” Jim Hogan says.
Eye-opening experiences have not just been limited to their own movement, however. Active members of the American Field Service, the Hogans have opened their home to students from around the globe.
“You broaden the horizons of your own family as well the horizons of (those who stay with you),” Rita Hogan says. “It makes you more well-rounded.”
The Hogans keep in contact with their Norwegian exchange student from many years ago.
“We were able to meet her 1 year old last year,” Rita Hogan says.
And the couple enjoys what they do.
“We’re pretty much having a good time,” Jim Hogan says.
