Just when you think you’ve survived the winter blues, spring comes pouring in with day after day of heavy rain and cloudy skies. This year, MU is facing some of the wildest and most varied weather we’ve had in years. It seems the only thing that is sure is the promise of April showers and gloomy moods across campus.
To combat some of the dreariness, consider doing a spring clean or updating your dorm rooms or apartments with brighter and more summery décor. We know redecorating can be expensive, so MOVE is here to show you some easy DIY crafts to brighten up any room this spring:
**Quick Fixes:**
+ Put up string lights left over from Christmas or Halloween to create a relaxing mood and serve as an alternative to traditional night lights.
+ Create photo collages and clip them to the string lights, because nothing will put a smile on your face faster than being able to look back at memories of your favorite college experiences.
+ If string lights aren’t your style, you can never go wrong with an assortment of candles, which you can get in fresh spring and beachy scents. (Be careful, though — residence halls and many apartment complexes don’t allow candles, so double-check the policies first.)
**Crafts:**
+ After a girls’ (or guys’) night, recycle your wine or beer bottles — or glass soda bottles for those of you under 21 — by painting them and wrapping them in twine or ribbon for a chic country feel. Fill them with fresh flowers for an added touch of spring.
+ We all know April showers bring May flowers, but while you wait for the rain to do its job and bring flowers, spend a rainy day indoors creating paper flowers to decorate your space.
