The UM System hired the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management group to assess the mental health and sexual assault resources offered on the all four campuses.
The hiring of NCHERM comes after the Board of Curators was presented with a report by the Dowd Bennett law firm that stated [MU failed to have Title IX policies in place for its employees](http://www.umsystem.edu/media/president/statement/Independent_Counsel_Final_Report.pdf) and “should have acted on the information it had in November 2012” in relation to the [Sasha Menu Courey case](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2011/7/21/sasha-menu-coureys-life-revolved-around-swimming-f/).
UM System President Tim Wolfe said the law group will provide a third-party perspective to the sexual assault and mental health services task force.
“We are pleased to be able to utilize the expertise of the nationally-renowned NCHERM group, whose credible, independent analysis of our current resources will help us to improve in the way we serve people on our four campuses in terms of sexual assault prevention, reporting and education, and mental health service delivery,” Wolfe said in a UM System [news release](http://www.umsystem.edu/ums/news/media_archives/041614_news).
The system is now moving into the next step of improving campus resources for students. Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin released [a list of mental health and sexual assault resources on MU’s campus](http://chancellor.missouri.edu/news/safety-security-update/) as part of the first step. This next phase will include assessing all those resources.
