Summer is right around the corner, and with it comes the promise of warm weather, a break from homework overload and a plethora of big summer blockbusters. In anticipation of this summer’s super-hyped films, MOVE has picked six movies you should anticipate in the upcoming months.
1. “Godzilla”
Who isn’t stoked to watch one of the world’s most famous monsters rampage through a highly populated city? And to make things better, Andy Serkis is providing the movements of Godzilla and Bryan Cranston is starring. Walter White vs. Godzilla: It’s a dream come true.
2. “The Fault in Our Stars”
If you didn’t cry your eyes out while reading John Green’s book about two teenage cancer victims who fall in love, you’re dead inside. Shailene Woodley stars as Hazel Grace Lancaster, who, at a cancer support group, meets and falls madly in love with Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort). Be sure to bring tissues.
3. “Maleficent”
It’s the previously untold story of Maleficent, one of the most evil Disney villains. Will the movie make us sympathetic toward Maleficent and her quest for Princess Aurora’s blood? We’ll see.
4. “22 Jump Street”
Power couple Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are back as our favorite undercover, incompetent cops. If it’s anything like “21 Jump Street,” our sides are guaranteed to ache for days after seeing it.
5. “How to Train Your Dragon 2”
Five years after Hiccup and Toothless made peace between the vikings and dragons, the future of Berk once again lies in their hands as a new threat emerges and threatens to take over. With a cast that includes Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill and Cate Blanchett, it’s a must-see.
6. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”
Years after hyper-intelligent chimpanzee Caesar (Andy Serkis) leads an ape uprising against mankind, survivors of the takeover wage war to try to take back their planet.
