Brunch seems to be the meal _made_ for college students. With its loosely defined hours ranging from late morning to afternoon, its never-ending range of possible dishes (because, y’know, it’s breakfast _and_ lunch), and, for the buffet-fortunate, the ability to overeat until settling on a seven-hour food coma, brunch truly is a sacred meal.
Luckily, Columbia has a multitude of breakfast-centric restaurants and coffee shops with brunch-worthy environments. A late Sunday wake-up call and reasonable amount of dough is all MU students need to enjoy time with their close friends and most innovative omelet concoctions. Here are four of CoMo’s best:
**Bleu**
_Location: 811 E Walnut St._
_Hours: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m._
_Price Grade: B-_
For a slightly high price, Bleu’s offerings make it one of the city’s best places for brunch. The $15.95 buffet, with choices ranging from delightful eggs Benedict and other breakfast favorites to great sandwiches and salad, is definitely worth the price if you’re an infrequent bruncher. And who doesn’t love a buffet?
**The Heidelberg**
_Location: 410 S Ninth St._
_Hours: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m._
_Price Grade: A-_
With reasonably priced breakfast options and weirdly delicious orange juice, The Heidelberg, a German bar and grill, was the last place I thought the brunch gods would look down favorably upon. Lo and behold, this CoMo classic is more than burgers and brews — there’s even a Mother’s Day brunch this Sunday.
**Cafe Berlin**
_Location: 220 N Tenth St._
_Hours: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m._
_Price Grade: B+_
Another great choice for mid-day munching, Cafe Berlin offers the best coffee out of all the previously mentioned spots, on top of fantastic omelets and pancakes and wonderful service. Located across the street from Mojo’s, this establishment offers great food with moderately low prices, making it well worth checking out.
**Broadway Diner**
_Location: 22 S Fourth Street_
_Hours: 4 a.m. – 2 p.m._
_Price Grade: A+_
Most brag about Broadway’s late hours fulfilling the inevitable intoxicated hunger, but this spot makes for a old-school style sit-down experience unlike most Columbia brunch selections. With dangerously tasty cinnamon rolls — nearly everything on the menu is _much_ more than adequate — this diner embraces service with a smile and servings with some solid weight. In addition, the price range is perfect; most items don’t cost more than $7.
