To the student body of the University of Missouri, the administration and staff, and the editors of The Maneater:
I first want to start out by saying how unbelievably difficult and hard this is for me to write, as Mizzou has been a home to me for the last three incredible years. Due to severe family emergency and financial issues surrounding my grandfather’s stroke that occurred about a week and a half ago, it is my deepest regret that I am having to resign from the position of Missouri Students Association President and will be returning to Texas to help care for my grandfather and work on the side due to increased familial financial pressures. I want to say how horrible I feel for having to step down from my position and apologize to all of the Mizzou family for these upsetting circumstances.
With my resignation at the end of this month, after the consultation of our advisors as well as the Senate Speaker, Ben Bolin, I am so blessed to know that I will be leaving the Missouri Students Association in great hands, the hands of my Vice President, Kelsey Haberberger. Kelsey, with the guidance and advice of our advisors, has appointed MSA Chief of Staff Matt McKeown to take over the position of Vice President.
Under the supervision of Kelsey and Matt, I know that the association and the student body will be taken care of, and with the support of Ben Bolin, a quick transition will allow for nothing but a small speed bump in the working of the association as a whole.
As I stressed before, it hurts me more than anyone can imagine to, one, have to leave the post of presidency, but more to leave the university that I call home. It is my hope to return — if not in the spring, in the near future to Mizzou. Mizzou will always be on my mind and in my heart.
