Hey, MOVErs!
Summer has (almost) come and passed, y’all.
I don’t know about you, but I _love_ the start of fall and everything it brings: sweater weather, college football, changing leaves, apple cider, postseason baseball. While it’s not _officially_ fall ‘till Sept. 22, they’ve already started selling Pumpkin Spice Lattes, so screw the Farmers Almanac, the coffee shop gods have spoken: it’s fall, MOVErs. (Speaking of PSLs, in this issue of MOVE, learn to make your own –– write your name on your cup horribly misspelled to give it that authentic coffee shop feel).
In addition to unpacking all my pullovers and dusting off my boots, I’m also knee-deep in Roots ’N’ Blues preview prep. Over the next two weeks, I’ll be pitching out stories for our annual special issue and working closely with headliners and local businesses, making sure MOVE’s preview is top-notch. (If you saw Heather’s RNB issue last year, you know I’ve got huge shoes to fill).
Also coming soon in MOVE is our second long-form feature, #MOVEgoeslong02. This edition, written by resident music guru [Patrick McKenna](http://move.themaneater.com/staff/view/patrick-mckenna/), is a feature on Hitt Records downtown. Look for it at the end of the month.
Between the two of those (in addition to normal MOVE happenings and that whole “school” thing), I’ve got a lot on my plate. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining –– I’m so incredibly psyched to share all of these things with you as the month progresses. The Roots ’N’ Blues Festival is such an integral part of CoMo’s A&E culture, and I’m honored to play even a small role with MOVE’s preview, and I’m excited to continue the #MOVEgoeslong series.
While the summer season is ending (as is the “normal” sleep schedule of yours truly), the school year (and the MOVE year) (and the Tigers football season, M-I-Z!) is only beginning. It’s easy to get overwhelmed at this point in the semester (“EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING!”), but trust me –– you’re going to make it. This week’s issue has tips from lifestyle columnist [Brad Spudich](http://move.themaneater.com/staff/view/brad-spudich/)/person who’s made the word “dope” a fixture in my lexicon on managing stress –– check it out and don’t be afraid to utilize the resources he lists. Part of “starting off the year strong” is learning how to deal when things inevitably get tough.
We’ve got this, MOVErs. It’s going to be a great fall.
