Sarah Byland likes to spend her Tuesday afternoons with her friend Colleen McGovern. Sarah is a petite 5-foot-3, but her permanent toothy, excited grin knows no size. Beneath her short black hair and behind her glasses, she smiles at everyone with her big brown eyes.
Today, Sarah and Colleen are weaving through the Columbia Mall’s Barnes and Noble. Sarah, who’s 38, is incredibly friendly — she bumps into four friends while she and Colleen look for a book about a bear in a yellow hat.
