Sigma Alpha Epsilon National Fraternity released [a statement](http://www.sae.net/home/pages/news/news—media-statements—fraternity-leadership-closes-chapter-at-university-of-oklahoma) regarding a video showing SAE members from the University of Oklahoma chanting racist terms on a bus.
Two chapter members have been expelled from OU since the video went viral, according to the statement.
In separate statements, according to the national fraternity, the two men said the chant had been taught to them.
SAE National Fraternity also said they have received information about another video released from the former housemother of the SAE chapter at OU, in which she made “racist” remarks to imitate a rap song.
The MU chapter of SAE president and vice president declined to be interviewed about the bus video, but provided separate statements in an email to The Maneater.
SAE President Garrett Knox: “The National Office of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity has shut down the chapter at the University of Oklahoma and we are in full support of this decision being taken following the release of such an appalling video. We are also in full agreement with the decision made by the Oklahoma University administration to remove these individuals from the campus immediately. Racism and discrimination has no place in this world, period. In no way do the actions of those few reflect, by any means, the values and beliefs of the men of the Missouri Alpha Colony of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, here at the University of Missouri, or those of our national organization as a whole. The Missouri Alpha colony looks for men who can best exemplify the standards, beliefs, and values that coincide with our creed, “The True Gentleman”, in their everyday actions regardless of their race, religion, or sexual preference. We are extremely embarrassed and saddened that individuals who wear our Fraternity letters, dare to call us Brothers, and claim to be True Gentlemen would behave in such an abhorrent manner.”
SAE Vice President Trevor Oistad: “The Missouri Alpha Colony of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is in full support of the disciplinary steps being taken by the University of Oklahoma Administration and Sigma Alpha Epsilon National Fraternity following the release of such an appalling video. Racism and discrimination has no place in this world, period. In no way do the actions of those few reflect, by any means, the values and beliefs of the men of the Missouri Alpha Colony of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, here at the University of Missouri, or those of our national organization as a whole. Our Fraternity seeks men who can best exemplify the standards, beliefs, and values that coincide with our creed, “The True Gentleman”, in their everyday actions regardless of their race, religion, or sexual preference. We are extremely embarrassed and saddened that individuals who wear our Fraternity letters, dare to call us Brothers, and claim to be True Gentlemen would behave in such an abhorrent manner.”
