Officers responded to a gun disturbance near The Blue Note on 17 Ninth St. Tuesday night at 11:46 p.m., according to a Columbia Police Department [news release](https://www.gocolumbiamo.com/Public_Comm/Public_Information/Press_Releases/view.php?id=3176).
Upon investigation, officers learned that a Blue Note patron who had been starting fights was refusing to leave.
The man assaulted the bouncers and then threatened to shoot them while showing a handgun. He then entered a red SUV, drove to a nearby alley and fired one shot.
After pulling out of the alley, he drove north on Ninth Street. Officials discovered one casing in the alley and several more located at Ninth and Rogers streets.
CPD Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said it appears that officers arrived on the scene after the shots were fired.
The release describes the suspect as a male, 20 to 30 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
No injuries or property damage occurred.
“We’re asking if anybody has any information about the suspect in this case to please contact Columbia Police Department or Crimestoppers, and, of course we’re always looking to see if there was video in or around the area with any suspect description,” Stroer said.
Waka Flocka Flame performed at The Blue Note on the night the shots were fired. Employees who were working were unavailable to be reached for comment.
