The three victims suffered nonfatal injuries and were transported to a local hospital after a shooting on Forest Avenue Wednesday night, according to a Columbia Police Department media release.
Officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire at 15 E. Forest Avenue at 5:26 p.m, according to the release. Upon arrival, officers found three victims of the shooting — two on Forest Avenue and one on Austin Avenue, the release stated.
According to the release, detectives are investigating multiple shell casings found on the north side of East Forest Avenue. The investigation is currently ongoing with officers currently searching for three black males in a white car, the release stated.
Detectives were sent to the hospital where victims are being treated to gather information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects, CPD Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said.
Stroer said there was a development in the search that involved a traffic stop of a car meeting the suspects’ description. She said she is unsure whether the traffic stop was related to the case.
“There has been a traffic stop of a white car occupied by three black males at Providence and Sexton (roads), however I do not have information on the outcome of the stop yet,” Stroer said.
CPP encourages anyone with information regarding the incident to contact CPD or Crimestoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
