A woman was raped at 1:50 a.m. May 29, according to a MU Police Department [news release.](http://mupolice.missouri.edu/pr/archive/2015/14-2015.php)
The victim notified MUPD officers just after 2:30 a.m. that she and a man she had met left the downtown area and walked near University Hall, where the sexual assault took place, according to the release. After the victim reportedly struggled with the suspect, he fled the scene, according to the release.
The suspect is a dark-skinned black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, and he spoke either French or Portuguese with a strong accent, according to the release.
“Investigators are working with the victim for additional details and to ensure she receives the services she needs,” according to the release.
MUPD spokesman Brian Weimer said MUPD is reviewing potential video footage and following up on tips.
Students were notified of the offense via Clery release sent out at around 11 a.m. Friday.
This was the third rape on campus so far this year and the tenth since the beginning of 2014, according to [MUPD records](http://mupolice.missouri.edu/RecentEvents.pdf).
More information isn’t available at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing, Weimer said.
