Junior Kelcea Barnes has been named the interim executive cabinet chief of staff, the Missouri Students Association announced [on Thursday](https://twitter.com/MSAmizzou/status/606524978201292800/photo/1).
Barnes, a double major in international studies and sociology with an emphasis in communication, will be taking over for senior Cara Hartwig while she is away at a Goldman Sachs internship in New York this summer.
“Following the Presidential Leadership Summit in Washington D.C., Brenda and I realized that we would needed additional support over the summer in order to fulfill the Ignite Mizzou mission,” MSA President Payton Head said in an email. “We decided to bring Kelcea on board to have more hands on deck with our summer administration.”
Barnes worked at MUTV her freshman year and said she believes her communication and organization skills will help her in this role.
“Cara did an incredible job of being the detail-oriented point person that we could count on to help bring our initiatives and projects to fruition,” Head said in an email. “We see those same qualities in Kelcea and are confident that she will prove to be successful in this position until Cara returns in the fall.”
Barnes said she is “thoroughly excited” to be joining the MSA executive cabinet.
“I plan on making sure that the administration runs smoothly,” Barnes said in an email. “During this period of time, I will work closely with Cara Hartwig to build on the foundation that she created during the school year. Also, I want to make sure that the executive cabinet hits the ground running for the Fall 2015 school year. Developing programming to enhance the experience and education of the student body is a critical component of our roles on campus, (and) in this position I want to ensure that this continues.”
