MU athlete Harold Brantley was involved in a serious car accident south of Columbia Sunday afternoon. The Tigers defensive tackle was seriously injured in the accident. He was accompanied by 21-year-old Madeline Stock, who plays on the Missouri Women’s basketball team.
Stock is reported to have minor injuries.
Brantley and Stock were driving on U.S. 63 when he veered off to the right side of the road and struck a guardrail, flipping the car, according to a [crash report](http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/HP68/AccidentDetailsAction?ACC_RPT_NUM=150373971) from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Brantley recorded 54 tackles and five sacks in fourteen games for the Tigers last season, as well as receiving an honorable mention All-SEC team from the Associated Press. Brantley was Missouri’s Team Freshman of the Year in 2013, and the redshirt junior was expected to start on the defensive line for the Tigers this fall.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that neither Brantley nor Stock were wearing seatbelts.
