Willson Wheeler Nixon, son of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, was arrested on the 1200 block of Paquin Street for Driving While Intoxicated with a bond of $500.00,
At about 3:05 a.m. Aug. 30 on Locust Street near College Avenue, officers noticed Nixon’s car was without headlights and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. While being pulled over, Nixon failed to drive on the right of the highway, which resulted in Nixon running into a parked vehicle. Both vehicles were damaged in the wreck.
He was changed with a misdemeanor DWI, Drive on Right of Highway with a release on signature summons, Restricted Licenses with a release on signature summons and Headlamp on Motor Vehicles with a release on signature summons, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
Once officers were able, they made contact with Nixon, Public Information Officer Bryanna Larimer said.The officers were able to smell intoxicants on Nixon and observed indicators that Nixon was under the influence. The identity of and the amount of intoxicants Nixon was driving under the influence of has not been released. Officers found that Nixon was driving with a restricted driver’s license.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department., Nixon was charged with a DWI the first time back in May 2015 in Branson, Missouri. In September 2011, Nixon was also arrested in Branson for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana, but the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.
