####Loftin resigns
Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin [announced his resignation](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/loftin-announces-resignation-effective-jan-1/), effective Jan. 1, at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9. During a UM System Board of Curators meeting at the Old Alumni Center, he announced he will be the new director for research facility development.
Loftin's resignation will go into effect Jan.1. His announcement comes hours after the resignation of UM System President Tim Wolfe.

####Wolfe resigns
Now-former UM System President Tim Wolfe [announced his resignation](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/wolfe-announces-resignation-um-system-president/) at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, during a UM System Board of Curators meeting. He took responsibility for the lack of administrative response to recent acts of racism and discrimination on campus. He also acknowledged the frustration of the groups, both African-American students and graduate students, whose demands have not been met. “My decision to resign comes out of love, not hate,” he said.

####Crowds on Carnahan
Carnahan Quad [erupted in a scene](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/activists-celebrate-wolfes-resignation-concerned-s/) of frenzied jubilation after news swiftly spread that Wolfe had resigned. The Concerned Faculty and graduate students whom had set up tables in preparation for a “teach-in” protest in solidarity with the Concerned Student 1950 joined together in celebration. Concerned Student 1950 prayed together and sung spiritual hymns. The overwhelming media presence was condemned, as people linked arms around the campsite to block off the media’s view of the protesters.

####New diversity initiatives
After Loftin announced his resignation, the UM System Board of Curators introduced a [new series of diversity initiatives](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/um-board-curators-announces-new-diversity-initiati/) to improve race relations on both the MU campus and the other UM System campuses. The initiatives include a first-ever chief diversity, inclusion and equity officer for the UM System and one at each system campus. There will also be mandatory diversity training requirement for all faculty along with current and future students.

####Jonathan Butler ends his hunger strike
Graduate student Jonathan Butler announced via Twitter Nov. 9 at 8:36 a.m. that the #MizzouHungerStrike was over. His hunger strike [began Nov. 2](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/3/students-camp-out-support-mizzouhungerstrike/) when Butler announced he would end his strike once Wolfe was out of office. His hunger strike garnered the support of many students and organizations locally and nationally.

####MSA’s response
The Missouri Students Association [published a letter](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/msa-letter-curators-calls-wolfes-removal/) to the curators on Twitter on Monday morning calling for Wolfe’s removal. After Wolfe announced his resignation, MSA released a statement regarding his announcement. “The academic environment (at MU) has been compromised for many students due to a lack of action from from University of Missouri leadership,” the statement read. “The resignation of Tim Wolfe is only the first of many actions that need to take place.”

####New Concerned Student 1950 demands
Following Wolfe’s resignation, Concerned Student 1950 held a press conference at Traditions Plaza and announced a [new set of demands](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/concerned-student-1950-issues-new-demands/). Some of their demands include shared governance and increasing retention rates for marginalized students. They said that their demands must be met “in totality.”
####Concerned Faculty and graduate students walk out
Concerned Faculty and graduate students conducted a [“teach-in”](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/concerned-faculty-cancels-class/) at Carnahan Quadrangle in solidarity with the efforts of Concerned Student 1950. Tables and chairs were in the process of being set up for the demonstration when the news of Wolfe’s resignation became known. The faculty and graduate students joined in the celebration, and they will continue their protest efforts tomorrow starting at 12 p.m.

####Missouri Football ends boycott
The Missouri football players announced a boycott Saturday of all football-related activities until Wolfe resigned. Following the announcement of Wolfe’s resignation, [the team ended their boycott](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/light-wolfes-resignation-missouri-football-team-cl/) and will resume practice in preparation for the Saturday, Nov. 14 game against Brigham Young University at Arrowhead Stadium.

####MSA elections postponed
MSA announced Monday afternoon that its 2015 presidential and vice presidential elections will be postponed due to recent campus events. Originally scheduled for Nov. 9-11, they will now be held Nov. 16-18. The postponement was announced at a press conference in Jesse Wrench Auditorium, which occurred at the same time as the Board of Curators meeting in which [Loftin announced his resignation](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/9/loftin-announces-resignation-effective-jan-1/). Along with the elections, the [library fee vote](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2015/11/5/library-fee-subject-discussion-kcou-radio-show/)has also been postponed, as the two votes share a ballot.
Elections will be postponed 7 days.
