The Missouri gymnastics team continued to roll, knocking off No. 9 Georgia by a score of 195.800-195.350. The Tigers, ranked 14th nationally, improved their record to 3-1, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-3 on the year.
Freshman Britney Ward had a strong showing in the first rotation, posting a score of 9.875 on vault. In bars, the second rotation, freshman Brooke Kelly led the team with a score of 9.85. The Tigers were also helped by Morgan Porter, who scored a 9.825.
Ward continued her big day in the third rotation. The Ozark, Missouri, native posted a career best score of 9.9 on beam. Sophomore Becca Schugel tied her career best with a score of 9.825.
Although Georgia led after the first three rotations, a strong floor performance put the Tigers ahead to end the meet. Sophomore Kennedi Harris led Mizzou in the event, finishing with a score of 9.925. This tied her career high and gave the Tigers the victory.
The Tigers are back in action Jan. 30. They travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on Oklahoma, Stanford, Louisiana State and Washington in the Metroplex Challenge.
