The MU student charged with first-degree rape and burglary charges has been released on bail.
Austin Joseph Campbell, a 19-year-old freshman, was arrested Jan. 19 after a Laws Hall resident reported to police that Campbell unlawfully entered her room and sexually assaulted her.
Campbell was detained in Boone County Jail after MU Police Department questioning, and was previously held at $75,000 bond. On Wednesday, his bond terms were changed to $50,000.
Campbell is banned from MU premises.

MUPD spokesman Maj. Brian Weimer says that Campbell’s arrest didn’t warrant the need for a Clery release.
“No, there was no need for a Clery release,” Weimer said. “It didn’t meet the requirements for a Clery release.”
