The longest losing streak of the Missouri men’s basketball team’s season continued Saturday as the Tigers lost their eighth straight game to the Alabama Crimson Tide (13-9, 4-6 SEC) 80-71.

Missouri came to Tuscaloosa without junior forward Russell Woods and sophomore forward Jakeenan Gant, [who were suspended for Saturday’s game after being arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2016/2/5/basketball-players-jakeenan-gant-and-russell-woods/). Sophomore forward D’Angelo Allen was also left in Columbia after he came down with a case of strep throat, leaving Missouri with only three of their six eligible forwards.

Freshman forward Kevin Puryear and senior forward Ryan Rosburg made the most of their increased playing time. Puryear scored a personal best 22 points while adding six rebounds. Rosburg scored a career high 17 points and snagged seven rebounds.

However, the Tigers’ lack of depth was soon apparent as Alabama dominated the stat sheet, outrebounding Missouri 38-30.

Meanwhile, Mizzou’s guard play was dismal. Missouri only shot 19 percent from beyond the arc, while the Missouri guards only combined for 32 total points.

With the loss, Missouri has now dropped eight straight games, which is the second longest streak since 1974. It was also Mizzou’s 26th consecutive loss away from Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers will now travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to face off against Vanderbilt. The Commodores (13-9, 5-4 SEC) have been the Southeastern Conference’s most disappointing team, entering the season as the country’s 18th ranked team.
