The Missouri women’s swim team sits in a tie for ninth place after three days of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Junior Nadine Laemmler and senior Abby Duncan led the way for the Tigers.
Missouri did not place any swimmers in the top 16 in the 400-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle or 100-yard butterfly. Sophomore Sharli Brady, senior Anna Patterson and sophomore Kira Zubar competed in the morning races but did not qualify for finals.
The Tigers began to heat up in the 100-yard breaststroke. After setting a school record of 58.15 in the preliminary races, junior Katharine Ross finished in fourth in the finals to earn All-America honors. Duncan was fifth with a time of 58.50.
Laemmler lowered her team record in the 100-yard backstroke with a morning time of 51.14, making the championship final. She finished in seventh. Hannah Stevens touched in 51.60 to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors with a 14th place finish.
The Tigers took eighth place in the 200-yard medley relay, setting a team record of 1:36.40 in preliminaries. The All-American team consisted of Laemmler, Duncan, Patterson and freshman Maddie Gehrke.
Georgia is currently leading the meet with 285 team points. The fourth and final day begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.
