Missouri will host No. 4 Vanderbilt for a three-game series starting Friday. The Tigers will go with senior Reggie McClain as game one’s starting pitcher.
Both teams are struggling right now. The Tigers are 14–9 but are coming off a sweep at the hands of No. 1 Florida. The Commodores, 17–4, have lost three of their last four games.
The Tigers talked to the media about their upcoming series:
“We play Vanderbilt, Florida, and we face some really good pitching, so we need to be able to match it.”
–Tim Jamieson, head coach
“We just need to swing at strikes, take the balls and put the two-strike pitches into play and we’ll be a lot more successful.”
–Zach Lavy, senior first baseman
“I’m excited. I wish the weather was a little bit nicer so more people would come out, but (it’s a) good opponent, and I’m definitely ready to show everybody around here what we can do against a good team.”
–Connor Brumfield, freshman outfielder
“They’re a lot of polished hitters and they’re not going to beat themselves … you’re going to have to go in there and you’re going to have to beat them.”
–Reggie McClain, senior pitcher
