####Movie
The original “The Jungle Book” premiered October 1967. Today, the new “The Jungle Book” is set to come out. This new movie is a big juxtaposition from the original, which was a cartoon with a bear and some sweet tunes. Can I just say that “Bear Necessities” is one of my current favorite jams? The new movie is filled with live-action scenes with a real boy actor instead of a cartoon. Idris Elba plays terrifying tiger Shere Khan and Bill Murray plays my favorite character, Baloo the bear. For any kid who watched the original, this new movie is a must-see.
####Show to binge
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” season two premieres today, and this should definitely be on your binge list. The episodes aren’t too long and the show is hilarious (it is produced by Tina Fey, after all.) The show is full of Schmidt, who is played by funny-girl Ellie Kemper, trying to figure out how to adjust to life after she escapes from Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne’s underground cult. She is a “mole woman,” and as she works to escape from her past, she meets Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess) and Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane). This is a funny, although mildly vapid, show that should definitely be on your Netflix queue.
####Song
Folk-band [The Lumineers](http://move.themaneater.com/stories/2016/4/11/listen-lumineers-sophomore-album-perfect-springtim/#.VxBDt5MrJmA) recently came out with their sophomore album, “Cleopatra.” The title track “Ophelia” is on par with their first huge hit, “Ho Hey.” It’s a perfect song for looking out the window on a cloudy day or thinking some deep thoughts on the columns. Before you jam to the entire album (which you most certainly will), “Ophelia” is a wonderful way to introduce yourselves to their unique brand of bittersweet folk.
####Novel
April is hard. Finals are nearly upon us, and it’s definitely about the time where I start to panic about my grades (sorry, Mom and Dad). To remedy this, a comedy novel is the perfect solution. David Sedaris’ “Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modern Bestiary” is one of the best novels for this. He’s extra obscene and the book is pretty inappropriate, but that’s what makes it hilarious. It’s a series of short stories where Sedaris anthropomorphizes a bunch of animals in order to tell crazy stories. There are also terrifying illustrations which just add to the weirdness. The book will almost certainly make you laugh, and that’s just what we need.
####Wine and recipe
It’s the weekend, so let’s be fancy. Pair a [pan-seared strip steak](http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/pan-seared-strip-steak) with a smooth red [Syrah](https://www.marketviewliquor.com/product/michael-david-petite-petit-syrah-750-ml.html?vfsku=22224&vfsku=22224&gpla=pla&gclid=CL2AnvK_j8wCFZSEaQodi44BHQ). I know it seems fancy to eat steak, but it’ll definitely be worth the splurge. The Syrah has a great sourness to it, because it has a high content of tannin, so it goes well with the steak. Be classy, you deserve it.
####Friday event
The Houndmouth concert is 7 p.m. Friday at The Blue Note. This will be an interesting show because it’s one of their first without Katie Toupin, one of the founding members of the band. Either way, Houndmouth is a great band that should be anyone’s alternative rock jam.
####Saturday event
[The Hateful Eight](http://move.themaneater.com/stories/2016/2/2/quentin-tarantino-eight-eight-hateful-eight/#.VxBHFpMrJmA) is showing at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. April 15 and 16 in Memorial Union. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the film follows bounty hunters who attempt to find shelter during a blizzard. It is a Tarantino film, so it’s pretty bloody, but it’s full of interesting characters and a pretty fascinating plot. The film is only $1 too, so it shouldn’t break the bank. Eat some popcorn and enjoy.
