A rape report Sunday morning led to the arrest of sophomore Conner James Whyte on suspicion of rape and sodomy.
MU Police Department received a call around 3 a.m. Sunday, and Whyte was taken into custody later that afternoon. The victim reported they had been acquaintances, MUPD Maj. Brian Weimer said in an email.
After some investigation by MUPD, Weimer said Whyte had been arrested on suspicion of first-degree rape and sodomy. According to the [Missouri General Assembly Statutes](http://www.moga.mo.gov/mostatutes/stathtml/56600000601.html), first degree rape and sodomy involve a victim who is “incapacitated, incapable of consent, or lacks the capacity to consent, or by the use of forcible compulsion.”
As the investigation is ongoing, Weimer said MUPD was unable to release more information about the case and next steps.
