Just minutes prior to Missouri football taking the stand at 2016’s Southeastern Conference media days, multiple outlets have reported that Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades will leave the program for Baylor.

Rhoades is heading to Baylor after a little over a year with the Tigers. His Missouri tenure saw longtime football coach Gary Pinkel and baseball coach Tim Jamieson resign, as well as the football team boycott in fall 2015.

Rhoades came to Missouri from Houston, where he was the athletics director for six years. Rhoades was hired by Missouri in April 2015, and he was Mizzou’s first athletics director after Mike Alden, who manned the Tigers’ athletics program for 17 years, stepped down.

Rhoades’ departure is the latest among high-level administrators at MU. The university has an interim chancellor and system president, and three curators and three deans have resigned since November.

Wren Baker is currently the deputy director of athletics at Missouri.
