We’re approaching the beginning of the school year, which means the prime time for binge-watching is coming to a close. Between classes, a social life and sleep, all that time you spent over the summer marathoning TV shows is going to seem like a distant memory. But with five months left in 2016, there’s still going to be some Netflix releases that you should clear your schedule for.
There’s no wrong way to binge, so whether you stock up on Red Bull and get through the show in one night or sneak in episodes during your free time at the Student Center, as long as you take the time to watch these shows, you’re good.

Binge Show of the Month: “Marvel’s Luke Cage”
What it’s about: “Luke Cage” is about Luke Cage (obviously), a recurring character on “Jessica Jones.” Cage is a man with superhuman strength and bulletproof skin living in the rougher area of New York. He’s finally getting his own show that hopefully will give a little more insight into the character. The show can be watched as a standalone but is going to lead into the 2017 show “The Defenders,” which will bring together all the Marvel superheroes who exist solely on Netflix.
Watch if: you’re a fan of superheroes, action and darker themes

Binge Show of the Month: “Haters Back Off”
What it’s about: Miranda Sings is a popular YouTuber who is trying to succeed where other YouTubers have failed: mainstream media. Miranda is a character created by Colleen Ballinger, whose videos have gotten her on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and in a sketch with Jerry Seinfeld. Now she has her own show on Netflix, and it’ll either prove the haters wrong or not hit the mark, like Grace Helbig’s E! Network show.
Watch if: you enjoy YouTubers, experimental storytelling and nasally voices

Binge Show of the Month: “The Crown”
What it’s about: This historical period drama is all about Queen Elizabeth II and how her reign has shaped the second half of the 20th century. “The Crown” is the most expensive drama made by Netflix and the first to be filmed in the UK. Starring Claire Foy as Elizabeth and “Doctor Who” alum Matt Smith as Prince Philip, the show intends to eventually cover the entirety of Elizabeth’s reign from 1947 to the present day if they are given the chance.
Watch if: you are interested in history, accents and not-so-subtle sexism/patriarchy-smashing

Binge Show to Be Prepared For: “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”
What’s it about?: “A Year in the Life” is a revival/follow-up of sorts to the end of the seventh season of “Gilmore Girls.” It comprises four 90-minute episodes representing each of the seasons. “A Year in the Life” looks at all the beloved characters and what’s happened to them between 2007 and 2016. It’s one of Netflix’s most anticipated shows due to the passion of “Gilmore Girls” fans.
Watch if: you want to feel nostalgic, revisit characters and cry a little (a lot)
