Unless you live under a rock, you know of RuPaul, one of the most famous drag queens of all time. Her successful television shows and production companies have changed the face of drag forever.
I just finished watching Season 8 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” months after it aired. Lucky for me though, Logo TV recently announced the cast for Season 2 of “RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race,” which will air August 25th.
If you’ve never heard of “All Stars” before, here’s the gist: RuPaul brings back 10 fan favorites to compete again for the Drag Race Hall of Fame. The drag queens are teamed up into pairs and work together on challenges. If one does poorly, then both can be up for elimination, making each person’s performance much more high-stakes. Logo TV currently has the first season [online for streaming.](http://www.logotv.com/shows/rupauls-all-stars-drag-race)
This season, they are bringing back a variety of queens from seasons 2 through 7. So many great drag queens are coming back this season that this may be one of the best seasons of “Drag Race” yet. Let’s take a look at our contenders.
**Adore Delano**
Adore was runner-up with Courtney Act in Season 6 of “Drag Race.” Since then, she’s released her debut album, “Till Death Do Us Party,” and her sophomore album, “After Party.” She’s one of the few truly great vocalists to be on “Drag Race” and even was on Season 7 of “American Idol” before she competed to be America’s Next Drag Superstar. It’s definitely going to give her an edge on the other competitors, and I can’t wait to see all the performances we’re going to be gifted with in the spring.
**Alaska**
Alaska was a runner-up with Roxxxy Andrews in Season 5 of “Drag Race.” One of the biggest things she’s done since the show has been hosting her own shows on WOWPresents, the YouTube channel owned by the production company of “Drag Race.” Her most well-known show is “Bro’laska,” which she hosts with her half-brother Cory Binney. Alaska’s unique personality and style are sure to be interesting on the show. I’m curious to see who she teams up with to fight her way through the competition.
**Alyssa Edwards**
Alyssa Edwards also competed in Season 5 of “Drag Race” and was eliminated in the ninth week. Before “Drag Race,” she was mostly known for pageant drag and her work as a dance teacher. Now, she continues to teach dance as well as host “Alyssa’s Secret” on WOWPresents. Her strong personality and Southern charm created some memorable moments during Season 5 that will no doubt continue during All Stars. Here’s to hoping they create a mix as great as this one:
**Coco Montrese**
Coco was also a contestant on Season 5 of “Drag Race” and was eliminated in the 10th week. She was mostly known on “Drag Race” for her rivalry with Alyssa Edwards, which started when Coco received a pageant crown (after it was taken from Alyssa). Since “Drag Race,” she’s continued performing and has appeared at RuPaul’s Drag Con, which is like a comic con for drag. She’s also seemingly made up with Alyssa, even appearing on a panel with her in 2015. It’ll be interesting to see if any of the old drama stirs up.
**Detox**
Detox competed in Season 5 of “Drag Race” as well and was eliminated in the 11th week, meaning she was very close to being in the Top 3. Before being on “Drag Race,” she teamed up with other popular drag queens like Willam Belli to create some successful parody songs. Detox has continued performing since “Drag Race” but hasn’t really upped her internet presence the way other queens have. I’m not really sure what to expect from her, but hopefully she’s great.
**Ginger Minj**
Ginger was a runner-up with Pearl on Season 7 of “Drag Race.” Like others, she has also done a little work with WOWPresents and has toured around the world performing. Ginger is a triple-threat queen and it definitely showed during Season 7. Self-dubbed “The Comedy Queen of the South,” Ginger is a strong personality who will have a lot to offer this season and I can’t wait to see her back in the workroom.
**Katya Zamolodchikova**
Katya was a contestant on Season 7 as well and was eliminated in the 11th week. She went on to win Miss Congeniality and many fans are still upset that she wasn’t able to make it further in the competition. She is my personal favorite to win at the moment. Katya has a weird brand of humor that is showcased through her fashion and comedy. She’s a large presence on social media, creating a bunch of different YouTube series, either by herself or with WOWPresents. Her Season 7 reaction YouTube series “Rugrets” truly showcases her wacky outfits and slightly-off sense of humor. Katya’s sure to make a splash when she gets back on TV.
**Phi Phi O’Hara**
Phi Phi was a runner-up with Chad Michaels on Season 4. If you’ve never seen “Drag Race” before, you may know Phi Phi from her 365 Days of Drag. She made headlines online when she completely transformed herself into cartoon characters, notably “My Little Pony.” A little creepy, but very impressive. Phi Phi’s makeup and hair skills are undeniable. She is like a chameleon with every look she tries, which makes her strong competition in the runway challenges.
**Roxxxy Andrews**
Roxxxy was runner-up on Season 5 with Alaska. She was in the iconic lip sync against Alyssa Edwards to “Whip My Hair.” Roxxxy, in a bold move, removed her wig to reveal another one underneath, and the judges went wild. The lip sync ended with a non-elimination and nobody went home. Since “Drag Race,” she’s continued performing in live shows around the country. It’s surely going to be a wild season if Roxxxy stirs up drama like she did in Season 5.
**Tatianna**
Tatianna competed on Season 2 of “Drag Race” and was eliminated in the ninth week of the competition. She is the only drag queen returning from earlier than Season 5. Like everyone else, she has gone on to do work for WOWPresents, showing up in different videos and such. She’s also continued to perform around the world with many “Drag Race” alums. She’s definitely one of the most beautiful queens to grace the work room and is sure to make people up their game during the competition.
