Missouri redshirt sophomore running back Trevon Walters has been indefinitely suspended from the football team after he was arrested Friday in Columbia.
Walters, 21, was arrested on suspicion of stealing and fraudulently using a debit card in connection to a July burglary, according to a report from the Columbia Police Department. Walters was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Friday and was booked into the Boone County Jail at 12:04 p.m. Later Friday afternoon, he was released after posting a bond of $4,500 for the stealing charge and $1,000 for two counts of fraudulent credit card use.
Walters, a Bradenton, Florida, native, is one of six running backs on scholarship at Mizzou and was not expected to start. Walters redshirted his freshman year, and in the spring of 2015, he tore an ACL, causing him to miss the entire 2015 season.
According to the police department, Walters will likely be charged with a felony for stealing and a misdemeanor for the fraudulent credit card use.
