Dear lovers of museums, galleries and exhibits: Scratch out the bar crawl this weekend and make room for a campus museum crawl with MOVE.
####Museum of Art and Archaeology
What you’ll see: All kinds of art exhibitions! Currently, there are exhibitions on portraiture, Japanese prints and Renaissance and Baroque drawings.
Where it is: Mizzou North, at the corner of Garth Avenue and Business Loop 70.
When to go: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 12 – 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays
Fun fact: The museum has its own gift shop and online galleries if you can’t get enough.
####George Caleb Bingham Gallery
What you’ll see: Art, primarily by MU students, faculty and alumni.
Where it is: Fine Arts Building A126
When to go: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
Fun fact: You can stop by this gallery during Art-i-Fact’s campus-wide museum crawl on Sept. 22.
####Enns Entomology Museum
What you’ll see: Approximately 6 million specimens of insects, arachnids and fossils.
Where it is: Agriculture Building 3-38
When to go: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
Fun fact: If your museum-crawling group isn’t afraid of bugs, you can schedule a group tour to get even more information about the specimens.
####Missouri Historic Costume and Textile Collection
What you’ll see: Clothing and textile artifacts ranging from the 16th century to the 21st.
Where it is: Gwynn Hall
When to go: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday
Fun fact: Part of the collection is 58 quilts created over 100 years by three generations of women from a Missouri farming family.
####The State Historical Society of Missouri
What you’ll see: The collection includes all kinds of books, art, manuscripts and other print materials. The current exhibition features landscape architecture.
Where it is: 1020 Lowry St. (connected to Ellis Library)
When to go: 8 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday
Fun fact: If you like journalism, the collection has a newspaper collection dating from 1808 with papers from all 114 Missouri counties and St. Louis.
####Reptile Exhibit
What you’ll see: About 30 different species of reptiles.
Where it is: Stewart Hall 202
When to go: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
Fun fact: Feeding is at 9:30 a.m. on Fridays, making it one of the best times to go.
####Laws Observatory
What you’ll see: The majesty of space! Plus, an exhibition room featuring autographs from NASA Mission Control, astronauts and others.
Where it is: At the top of the Physics Building
When to go: 8 – 10 p.m. on clear Wednesday nights
Fun fact: They run a well-updated Facebook page to keep you up to date on astronomical phenomena and if the weather is clear enough to make the (star) trek up to the observatory.
