For anyone who thinks bagpipes are an awesome supplement to any song, The Go Set is the band for you.
####The lowdown
On Sept. 20, The Go Set is playing a free show (the best kind) at Rose Music Hall, featuring Dave Angle, who plays Rose Music Hall frequently. Both bands have a folksy vibe but could appeal to the punk crowd, and The Go Set displays unique accents that make it clear they’re Australian natives.
The doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 show.
####The band
The Go Set currently has six members; the instrumental talents of the band range from playing the bass and drums to bagpipes and the mandolin. Their website’s bio cites raw intensity and energy in their performances and in their albums. It also references the power struggles in Australia and shows pride in the revolutionary lyrics they use throughout their songs.
The band was inspired by the likes of The Clash and Radio Birdman, both prominent punk bands in the 70s, and they recorded their second album with Radio Birdman’s help.
####Parking
Rose Music Hall has parking around the venue and on the streets. Metered spots turn off at 7 p.m., so any parking should be free for this show, too. This event will be a great way to hang with your friends and not spend a crazy amount of money.
Anyone 21+ can bring money for drinks. You don’t need to splurge by eating out because Rose Music Hall is home to Pepe’s, a local food-truck-turned-restaurant.
####Noteworthy tunes
**_1788_**
This song has politically punk lyrics, bagpipes and catchy rhythms. What else do you need? Plus, I actually looked up the events of 1788 in Australia after listening to this song and found out that it was a pretty busy year for the country.
**_Raise a Glass_**
Listening to this song gives a preview of the presence the band has on stage and how their concerts will be very intense.

**_Icky Thump_ by The White Stripes**
I think The White Stripes could be considered a little mellow here comparatively, but from the band who produced Seven Nation Army, mellow is only part of the story. You’ve probably heard this song, (it’s even won a Grammy), but if not, definitely check it out.
